My first bow

OK, you guys want a good laugh, here are some pictures of my first bow.  I got it out yesterday and looked it over.  I think I have improved a little since I made it.  I don't want to string it or get it to full draw.  I'm sure the tiller is way off.  I seem to remember it was whip tillered.  I stayed on the long tillering string way to long.




The handle is plenty wide enough  ;D




Check out the giant antler arrow rest.  I do like the shape of the handle.




It says 35 @ 28", but that was using my old scale that read heavy.  At my draw length it is probably closer to 20#




Here are some nice frets on the limb edges.




3/4" wide tips  ;D 




I did do a good job chasing a ring.  There are tool marks all over it.

That's clean.  If whipped I'd pike and redo it and give it to a kid.  Certainly nothing to laugh at.

I've never heard of Osage fretting. Pretty nice lookin bow anyways how long ago was it made ?

That don't look too bad Clint. The thing that makes me smile is the 3/4" wide tips. I bet they are alot narrower now. I still got my first too. It was called "Virgin Hickory". It was a pyramid hickory board bow. Well needless to say my design has evolved. It still shoots but not very often. Its a bit sluggish being that it ended up taking 3" of set,lol.   Danny

I brought my first bow last month and broke it just so i never had to see something that bad ever again lol.

I made it in spring of 2009.

Don't retire it, it looks like a squirrell killing machine! I like the antler rest ;). I was happy with whip tiller once cause it meant I was shooting arrows and not breaking limbs :D
