Never tried it for a bow, but quartersawn sycamore is some sure-nuff purty wood.

BORDERLINE BOWWOODS All of the following can become durable fulldraw midweight bows using less severe versions of the Non-Bowwood remedies,           SYCAMORE .49. Diffuse-porous. Hope this helps.

I tried making a hickory/sycamore long bow with a cocabola riser. Unfortunately upon completion and stringing the sycamore wood split though this may be because of the Lock-tite wood epoxy. It does have a wonderful aroma and made a great wood canteen that will even make rain water sweet.
