Here's my first shot at an ELB. It's more of a medieval style yew bow, the belly is not quite as round and the sapwood was left on completely. I figured it should not matter much what the middle 60% of the bow are made from.

http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Altarpiece_of_St_Sebastian.jpgIt's made from a piece of yew with thick rings, a little deflex but no branches and flaws otherwise. Very nice piece of wood that split from the log almost as a finished bow, I had to cut off very little.
