Some Bowmaking.

I said I would post pictures of the day making bows. Here they are. Nathaniel is working on an ambush bow that is super heavy still even though the limbs are thinned quite a bit. Joe is using the drawknife to remove wood.

Here are the rest of the pictures, I've been working on a sinew backed ERC, I think I see a stiff spot on the right. It looks like it's pulling 55 lbs at 28 inches. Can anybody guess what the next step I need to take on this bow?(aside from the stiff spot.)

Awesome pics! Wish I had some guys in my area to get together with and make shavings!

Are my eyes tricking me, or is the handle/riser section of your bow the wrong way round in your tiller pics?  Looks like it's being tillered upside down...

Will, the bow is the right way around. The redish stuff is the heart wood. I made the handle section have a bump in sapwood to increase comfort of the bow.

That is one of your better tillered bows that I've seen. Great job getting that ERC to stay together. Love that reverse handle. Nice work.

Thanks Jon. Ok, so here is joes bow that he worked on, hickory pulling close to 40. It still needs a lot of work but its held together, next time we do a gathering we will finish it.
