Pure and Simple -New Bow for Niltsiar
« on: June 13, 2013, 09:37:10 pm »
got this bow finished up finally for a trade with Niltsiar. the bow measures 64 inches long, and bends through the handle. the draw weight is right around 58#, and it shoots quite well. originally had a green fabric backing on it, but t started popping off so i took it off. it was purely cosmetic anyway. hope he likes it! as always, all comments are welcome and encouraged.

I can't point to one specific reason, but that is one of the nicest bows I've seen in a while. It just seems to have a certain... grace.

I love that style of bow! I am working on to Powhatan style bows right now. What wood did you use?

great job! really nice sweeping curves

Mmmm, that is all things good in one nice package.  I'd love to shoot just one dozen arrows thru that bow before it left me for it's intended owner.  Good work, t-n-m!

By the way, I like your signature line, "the bow does not care where the arrow falls, only that its flight is glorious."

Thank you! Also forgot to mention, the signature line is an excerpt from a proverb from the feudal japanese teaching of Kyudo, or Way of the Bow.

Nice! Always like your bows, they are always perfect!
"The way of heaven is like the bending of a bow-
the upper part is pressed down,
the lower part is raised up,
the part that has too much is reduced,
the part that has too little is increased."

That looks real nice.  Lovely bend indeed!
"The bow is the old first lyre,
the mono chord, the initial rune of fine art
The humanities grew out from archery as a flower from a seed
No sooner did the soft, sweet note of the bow-string charm the ear of genius than music was born, and from music came poetry and painting and..." Maurice Thompso
