elder/bundle bow, 54 lbs @ 31"/full draw pic
« on: June 10, 2013, 03:11:01 am »
So I took off the single bamboo piece off the belly of the red elderberry bow and bundled six arrow size bamboo stakes 36" long on to the belly. Small dia. bamboo doesn't take a set or string follow like the bigger stuff. The handle width is still the same, 1 1/4" but I gained a few pounds of draw weight, now 54 lbs @ 31" . I wrapped some thin leather around handle and just tied it on like the bamboo. This is a cool way to boost a light bows performance. The tiller is still right on.  cheers fiddler49

Looks a whole bundle of fun :)
I think this sort of experimental thing is great, gets us away from the the over complicated stuff.
I was at a shoot yesterday behind some compounders who were taking an age over every shot and holding at full draw for about 10 seconds. I'd have pulled my hair out if I had any.

Way to think outside the box.  That reminds me of a similar idea I need to try out.. :-X.
"The bow is the old first lyre,
the mono chord, the initial rune of fine art
The humanities grew out from archery as a flower from a seed
No sooner did the soft, sweet note of the bow-string charm the ear of genius than music was born, and from music came poetry and painting and..." Maurice Thompso

Very cool Fiddler, good save and a new dimension in primitive archery!

Way to think outside the box, Fiddler!
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.
