I've never named a bow, the need just never struck me. I've called this one Knotty Boy since it was a gnarly limb, and the name has stuck. This is/was my Plan B bow for the bow trade and I finally finished her up. The stave was gifted to me by my buddy Juan Menchaca (juan) who can be found lurking about from time to time. So first, thanks Juan. Loved the stave. Owe you one! I've posted a few details on it in the Progress thread. Knotty gnarly Osage. High crown and thin rings, but pipe straight. 3 inches of natural reflex when I started and it still retains 2 inches when first unstrung. 66 inches long, 1 1/2 inches wide for the middle third and then tapers to 1/2 inch tips. Narrowed the handle slightly. 50ish at 27 inches, bendy handle. I filled 9 knots with Super Glue, and added sinew to 2 of the bigger ones. Love the way she shoots. Not the fastest bow I own but not the slowest by a long shot and one of the more pleasant shooters. The accents are silk thread which was an experiment as I have not done it before. I'm happy with them but I can improve upon them if I do them again.
Bottom line...the trade has been a great time for me. I got 3 bows out of the deal, Plan A which I will now send to my recipient, the beautiful HHB bow I received from GregB and this one. Granted, one will be leaving the nest, but I just enjoy making them. Hope you like this one. Slim.
