My buddy robert(paleoninja on here) is moving out of state and gave me a short osage stave that had a tiny bit of twist to it. The back is violated in spots and i plan on sinew backing it when i get the funds or some goods worth trading. It ended up being 50 to 55# @ 25", i think im only drawing 22" in the pic. The tips have a little bit of natural reflex which makes them look stiff when drawn. Still need to make a grip for it. This is my first successful osage shortie, first one broke.

Nice effort on a short piece of wood. I don't want to be a buzz kill but the tiller is off a tad and I would personally fix it before drawing it much more. The violations on the back are feathered out enough, but I would absolutely back it before bending it more as well. The top limb is flat from the inner third out. The bottom limb is flat coming out of the handle to the inner third. Just a little work and you'll be bending good. If you don't have sinew to back it with a rawhide dog chew would be fine on that short of a bow. Don't take what I've said negatively. I like seeing short bows bend good and you are almost there.

I got to agree with JonW, It also looks to be braced pretty high, on my short bows the brace is only maybe 5", still it's looking good and the brace height is a personal thing, your coming along real good with your bows

I like it.  And yea, don't pull it anymore.  I have some "leftover" sinew in various stages of length that would be perfect for a project like that.  If you want it I'll give it to you, just PM me your address.

Good to see a short hedgeapple/osage bow on here! I've been working on one that's about the same length as yours, and thought I must be crazy to try it. Keep us posted on your progress when you've put the backing on.

I was gifted some sinew by a very generous man on here. With the help of bryce's building a long and my friend paleoninja i got the first layer of sinew on.
On the next layer im gonna make the strands thinner, i dont like how thick they look.

Wow. THat was fast! Nice sinew backing.
I have never tried that. linen works for holding down stuff well IF you apply multiple layers.
Looks to me like you have a beginning of a hinge in the bottom midlimb.
Nice bow! I like seeing osage bows(although I may never make one)
