What matters more? Tiller or meat?
« on: June 07, 2013, 09:41:49 pm »
This is a first for me of posting a bow here. Oregon yew selfbow, 60"ntn, 58# @ 27", 1.25" at widest, 3/4" at deepest. Moose hoof overlay tips, leather shelf with fake sinew handle wrap. Got a moose with it two years ago, 62" rack. He got shot and then swam out and died in the middle of the river. Good times.

I'd say the proof is in the moose pudding. Nice bow and nice moose.  :)

Hey Chadwick, I love it. Simple and effective and sweet to look at too. I have never seen overlays on like that either; looks cool.

I usually keep the tips off moose hooves when I get them, especially if there's white striping. The white striping turns out to be clear keratin, it shapes just fine. Stinks horribly when you sand it or cut it, though! I've used moose hoof as an overlay a bunch, and also some whale rib bone from a dug-up whale skeleton.

nice , no frills and deadly functional , its what its all about.
imagine getting a deadweight moose out of the river wasn't the easy part...

Nice piece of yew and nice moose. Well done!

Functionality is all that matters. Looks like the bow has more than it takes to be functional and really the tiller isn't that bad anyways

Obviously good for Moose or little French knights
