twisted black locust (finished pics added)
« on: June 07, 2013, 07:19:59 pm »
I got this twisted black locust from my friends junk pile, i forgot to take a pic of it before i got into it. Alot of the twist was by the tips so boiled and clamped out as much twist as possible. When it was split it ended up being pretty narrow in the handle area so its 1 1/8" wide through most of the legnth. The top limb is a little weird but it shoots really fast and smooth.

55# @ 27"
Ill post more pics after i pretty her up later. This is also my first bow from a stave.

Not sure what she looked like before, but she looks good now!!
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.

congrats! on your first stave bow. it looks like it's bending a good arc to me...maybe a bit stiff 6 or 8 inches from the top tip?
when i'm working on things my ancestors worked, singing the songs my ancestors sang, dancing the same dances, speaking the same language, only then  I feel connected to the land, THIS land, where my ancestors walked for thousands of years...
