Marshall bow
« on: June 01, 2013, 11:03:47 am »
Had a belly split laying around for a long time and decided that it would hopefully become a bow a marshall. I made a rawhide string 3 weeks prior and wanted a simple bow to put it on. I chased a ring and did major reduction with a drawknife but all the rest was done over my knee with a scraper. My elbow is still pissed at me. Working on it in the company of all these new friends was a blast. Blackhawk and Pearl were also working some osage. Right before the sat dinner I put the rawhide string on. To my amazement it was holding up!! Right after dinner Blackhawk, Pearl Drums, Misslemaster and myself went to shoot so arrows, and ended up running the coarse. The 3 new osage bows were unfinished and practically still had shavings hanging. For such a short bow I was shooting well ( that not saying much I am not good compared to my company). The rawhide did great until the 10th or 15th target, went boom on release. Did not bring ol' b50 with so I finished the coarse shooting the other guys bows. Fun, stuff. I decided that this bow was only going to get a little sanding and oil. No grip, leave the tool marks and keep it just like it was. Osage /52" ntn/ 45 to 50lbs at 26" / 13 oz.

Very nice, I like the plain and simple approach, it gives the bow a natural beauty.

Nice job, Paul. Sweet lookin little bow. Clean and simple....but deadly.

Sweet little bow with a great bend.  8)
You have to be able to shoot better than Pearlie and Blackhawk. Now, Misslemaster is another story.  ;)

Sweet arc on that little bow Paul and the unbraced reflex is impressive in such a shorter length bow. You did good on that osage
man. I want to see that one and your other recent osage in person. To bad that rawhide string broke on ya though.
I ain't broke but I'm badly bent.
