A sliver of fun
« on: May 23, 2013, 07:48:57 pm »
Had this sliver of osage kicking around.
It's not perfect, the top limb could have just a bit more bend.
1"@ handle to 3/4"@ tips with knots, humps, dips and bumps.
48" ntn
45 lbs @ 24" [came in a little lest then I wanted].
Was going to back with sinew but will save that for a better piece.
Will paint it up after shooting it more.
Thanks for looking.

The brace picture looks strange with the line on the garage.

Is there a deflex bump right below the handle or is it a hinge? I like it. Nice job! I do that with locust.. and give it away.

Real nice bend, Don. :)

So it came in a little bit under the weight you wanted.  Shucks.  But at 45#, there is plenty of horsepower necessary for any deer you run across. In fact, it's ease of draw will mean you are willing to spend more time practicing with it so that in the end you will have even better arrow placement!

You got something to be proud of there.  The saliva that sliver inspires is an epic flood!

Thanks all.
It's fun to take these sticks that should be made into walking stick or fire wood
and try to make into a bow. Sometimes it works sometimes not.

I just love it when a guy takes a questionable piece of wood and creates a beautiful bow out of it! You sure did it there! Good job on that one!
