3D Rang in Hawaii
« on: June 03, 2013, 01:23:19 am »
 Aloha Gang.
Thought yall would get a kick outa this. I went to shot a 3D corse here on Oahu with a buddy. Had about 40 targets all Axis deer, Goats, pigs and sheep. All the Targets were home made. Made with burlap and real horns strapped to the heads. Every target had a wood back stop because of all the arrow distorting lava rock.
Probably going to start hunting here some soon if i can pry myself away from the fishing long enough  ;)

Ah, yes, the 3D range at Kapolei. I shot there many times when I lived in Honolulu. Breakfast at Zippy's and then a day on the range. Thanks for posting those!!

Thanks for posting these pics Jesse. Not quite Twin Oaks but if you have to be in Hawaii I guess it will do.  ;)
Good to hear from you again.

The 3D range at Kapolei is built the site of an old pre-WW2 coastal gun battery emplacement. It was a Nike SAM site during the early Cold War judging from some of the unit paintings on one of the emplacements. All the bunkers are still there, ferroconcrete several feet thick. When I shot there, a few of the targets were up against the bunker walls, giving you added motivation not to miss.  :P
