Awesome bow!! What does it mean to trap the back?
Nice bow!
It means to give the cross section of the bow a trapezoidal profile.

This takes off unnecessary mass off the bow and is best done with tension strong woods. I think it can also serve to balance out the tension/compression battle that bows face, kind of like rounding the belly on a tension weak wood.

I'm thinking that's pretty much the ideal hickory design you've got there! That is what I'm thinking is the ideal length for 'bout 27 draw length in the bend through the handle bow. That was the "standard" for Eastern woodlands. Great bow.

Don, that tiller is money. Nice job and liked the idea of trapping that hickory, that's going the extra mile.

Nice bow I built my first three shorty D bows this winter getting kind of attached to shooting them. I may just build myself one someday.
