Building up a collection of arrows
« on: June 18, 2013, 10:29:58 am »
What do most of you warbow guys do in terms of building up arrows?  I've recently completed a couple of EWBS standard and livery arrows, and 4 of them cost me a fortune to complete, as the hand forged heads are so expensive.  I can't imagine being able to justify spending enough to have 12 or 24 arrows, and yet 2 of each type is pretty impractical.

Do most of you forge your own heads and turn your own shafts, or is it just VERY expensive?

I will pm you the details of a Slovac blacksmith who makes excellent and cheap heads. Around 4euro a head last time I bought some off him.
ALways happy to help anyone get into heavy weight archery: https://www.facebook.com/bostonwarbowsbows/

Wow, cheers guys! Really appreciate your help! If I had the option I'd build a brick forge and learn myself but I think my neighbours might find it slightly distracting...
