I had a ton of jatoba ever since my house was remodeled, the floors were ripped up and jatoba boards put in. I got all the scraps. I made a self bow out of jatoba before, which I gave to a friend, but i really think it's a good idea to back Jatoba. In my experience, Jatoba likes to have wild grain which is kind of hard to see and work with. (as do all brazillian hardwoods) Besides, Jatoba makes a great belly for a bamboo or hickory backing.
Now a stave of jatoba, split from a tree...that's something I want to see
