First deer this year on the ground
« on: October 29, 2007, 12:30:12 am »
I got a chance to get out this afternoon, been a busy month  :-[, and had 4 does and a spike buck come in. I was trying to get a shot at the biggest doe, but the spike was always in the way, so I moved him.

I was using Companero, my Osage takedown selfbow that I made after OJAM this year. 60" 52@29 with cocbolo tip overlays

Good Job.  I remember you telling me in another post about your OJAM bow.  Looks as good as it sounded.  I just saw a deer (well out of range) when I went out with my re-curve Friday, and it gave me a rush.  I can't wait to get my chance.  I almost wish black powder and rifle season were further off so as not to interfer with the primitive pursuit.

I guess the good thing about bow season, is it will still be around long after the other seasons have closed.

So far, I haven't found any Osage or knappable rock over here.  Embrace the suck

Awesome spike and harvest! Would love to shoot a spike someday(as funny as it sounds). Great job at eye to eye.
