value of foxes?
« on: May 02, 2013, 04:33:54 pm »
hey all, i often see some decent roadkill foxes and if there in good enough condition then ill pick um up and take em home and skin them. i was wondering if anything on them (appart from the hide and skull) is worth anyting. the only thing i can really think of would be leg tendons for sinew? but thats all i can think of. can any of you think of anything? i usually just throw the carcass away once iv'e removed the skin, only because the skull is usually smashed into 20 diffrent pieces and most of the time there is only half a fox (usualy resulting in a head mount.) so if you can think of anything that would be great as i hate things going to waste. SS

(Oh yeah, another thing, what about fox bacon? i made a thread on the leatherwall about fox recipies and if there is a fox in good enough condition i would give it a try, i mean the chineese have eaten dog and there both canines so can't be that bad. can it?)

Please don't eat roadkill.

Sinews, maybe.

What's wrong with roadkill? As long as the meat is fresh, its perfectly healthy.

if the hair is slipping, if it smells real bad, if it's got maggots crawling all over it, I probably won't eat it then

I know in Texas it's against the law to take deer that have been hit by cars, but I don't know if that applies to other critters something you might want to check on. Though honestly i doubt if any one would raise a fuss over a fox legal or not

well iv'e picked up foxes before and there dosn't seem to be any problem. i know theres a "law" saying if you hit an animal only the person behind you can pick it up. i think it's there to stop you driving round killing animals. SS

Are you serious? You're seriously thinking about eating a road killed fox?? Have you been watching zombie movies?? I thought you had exams to study for, and a cherry bow to build. Snap out of it!!

SS, if the rear end isn't run over  :(save the glands, makes excellent lures, or sell for cash money or trade for trapping lures or goods. Later Bob
