Here she is ,ready to go!
    Red Elm (board)
    64" NTN
    50#@28"
    2-1/2" wide at the fades
Inspired by the Heraldry used for a friend's motorcycle club .  Double headed Eagle , Greek flag (shield).  Old Greek coin inlaid in the leather strike plate to give it a little extra nostalgia. Carved some  chequering on the plate a little (a nod to the  shotgun that was traded for the bow) Carved and painted on the belly of the handle. The Eagle head nocks were overlaid with Pau Amarillo before being carved and the the rest of the tips were stained with yellow dye stain to match the natural colour of the overlays. The rest of the bow was stained with a walnut oil stain, faded into the tips. This gives the bow a bit of life, as the colour changes as you move the bow around from the center looking towards the tips the bow looks brown almost to the end. As you rotate it and look from the tips ,the golden colour  travels towards the belly. That was a pleasent surprise! The handle was painted black and faded into the stain.  Several topcoats  of oil based  varnish over the paint gives it a vintage feel. Blue leather  stitched handle wrap and a few arrows ,crested and fletched to match , round out the package. He's a good friend and hunting buddy . And he's been patiently waiting since last fall. I'm trying to get him out shooting this week , so hopefully I'll have some pics of him and his new bow soon. Here's a few  to get you going.
