Hehe, drew you guys in with the promise of pics, huh?
Here's my latest creation, a red oak longbow for a friend's girlfriend. She and him are really into the SCA/medieval fairs, and after she saw the bow I had made him she immediately wanted one. So who am I to disappoint?
It came out to 35# @28", the first time I've actually hit the exact draw weight someone wanted.

Left it a full 72" long, backed it with linen and put on a floppy rest. Ended up taking about 2" of set when just unbraced, but oh well. I might have taken in a little above the target weight during tillering, so that's probably what happened. It might not be the fastest stick in the woods, but it's dead quiet and scary accurate for a board bow.
BTW- The name, Darach, is Gaelic for oak. Like I said, medieval stuff.
