Could someone give me a little info on steaming the tips of a flat bow (redoak) I'm going to do it over a pot on the stove! How long do I need to steam each tip?

get it thinned down some, I like mine about brace, support it so it doesn't touch the pot cover with aluminum foil and steam I hr per side, belly down

I find 45 min to be enough. The thicker the wood the longer it will take. Use shellac on wood that will be steamed to help keep seasoned wood dry.
