I have a couple of stone tipped canes made by Norm Blaker - a Primitive legend here in Michigan. I'll be sure to bring them - Bob.

Hey, Charlie. I will be there Fri. morning and would love to learn more about can arrows. I read Tenbrook's garden stake build a long and tried a batch without much success. I hope you guys can show me where I went wrong.
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.

I plant the cane and lace them to a steel stake so they grow straight and don't need straightened:) I see your a rookie at this game:)

Nice work on that cane.  Love the wrapping, and the forshafting.  They even look almost straight.  So tell me?  Who made them for you??? :o :o

I did ya smarty pants old coot:)

Little tip on wrapping the feathers ole boy. I use black silk thread, I clamp the shaft in a vice, padded with a soft rag. I clamp the shaft only tight enough to hold it, but loose enough that I can rotate it with my hand.  Clamped too tight and you crack it, yes I've done that a couple times:) The vice is my third hand! I start at the nock end of the shaft, do a 1/4 inch solid wrap to strengthen the self nock area, but also wrap the base area of the nock with sinew later. Then as I start wrapping the feather, I go carefully through one feather then rotate the shaft so the next feather is facing up, while keeping tension on my spool of thread. I run the thread down through the next feather and check to see how my spacing looks. If it's not even, I'll back the thread up out and move it in the direction to make it even. Then rotate the shaft so the next feather is facing up. It's a tedious process but well worth it. Takes maybe 10 minutes to wrap the feathers. When done wrapping I soak both ends with super glue.

They do look nice.  I know Art wrapped his similar to that.  And I am working on a jig now to use as my third hand as well.  These old hands just don't function like they used to, so I know yours can not being older than dirt........Have a good one.....got to get some sleep to get up early and head to Twin Oaks.  The one good thing about this trip Roy is I know you are not making this one.......roflmao.  I wished you could be there to get some up close and personal attention for the old man....lol
