Finished my first ash flatbow
« on: April 07, 2013, 04:51:55 pm »
OK, 'tis finished  :shoot1:

Just south of 40lb at 30", and has taken a couple of inches of set (probably due to me tillering before it was dry enough).

Sarah doesn't believe in wasting any available drawlength...

Decoration...

Drawing just under 28" to the head.

It shoots quite nicely, with a bit of hand-shock. Feels reasonably quick, but that will have to wait until we get it down to the wood.

Nice, you could possibly narrow the few inches at the tips.
A bit less tip mass bay reduce the shock, or maybe try shooting a slightly heavier arrow.
I wasn't makin' 'em that good when I was your age.

Thanks, Del, I'll give that a try.

At my age?  ;D - that's my daughter Sarah, who has called dibs on this one, and did the decoration.

Nice job  Cap'n. Love the Gondorian artwork. Looks like it fits her perfect.

Very nice bow, love the artwork also.  Just finished up tillering my second ash bow, and have to say I like that wood.
