I am working on my second bow while I am in GA on business.  I built the shaving horse just before moving down here, and it is working very well.  The bow is an ash board, about 1 13/16 wide to about 8" from the tips, 7/16 at the tips.  Pulling 53# @ 24" right now.  Just a little more tiller work and she should be shooting.

Look at that concentration and determination! How do you like using the horse? I've been debating.

It takes some getting used to.  I have always used a vise on a steel bench bolted to a wall.  There is a little more movement with the horse, but I am getting used to it.  I mainly built it so I could work on a bow anywhere.  I can put the horse in the truck with a bucket of tools, and I am good to go.  One other change I have made is using a coarse rasp less, and a drawknife and spokeshave more.
