First fletching

This is my first fletched arrow, I only have access to chicken feathers until turkey season starts so I did an eastern two-fletch. I'm amazed at how well it shoots.

Nice looking arrow.  You did a good job on the self nock.  Looks like you inlaid  a piece to beef up the self nock.

That looks good. You can also do a trangential 3 fletch with 3 whole small feathers laid around the shaft(instead of opposite each other like the2fletch), back side down and tied fore and aft. They also work very well. I'll try to post pics later.

5/16" oak dowel, 32-3/4" (wanted enough to be able to correct mistakes) 524gr, ipe nock insert. Flies straight from my 35# bow. The head is the second one in this post, 108gr.

Here are a few pics of the tangential fletching I spoke of earlier. I have used whole feathers as small as 4" with good results.








The arrow on the left end is the 3 fletch tangential fletch.

I like the 2 fletching, it saves on material.
However, where does one obtain chicken feathers?

Set of three. Two are two-fletch, the middle is PatB's suggestion to do three whole feathers. After two of the ipe "reinforced" nocks split I had to shorten them and decided to forego the extra work involved and just wrap them instead.
