Went looking for knappable stone...found an arrowhead.

Went out near my house in Brandon FL looking for some rock to knap upon  ;D...didnt find any stone worth a dang but saw this little guy laying on the surface. Anybody know what kind it is? Doesnt' look like a Hillsborough to me so I have no idea.

Judging by the size, contracting stem with concave sides, and slightly "drooping" barbs I would say Levy point.  The Levy point is a late archaic point (about 4000 yrs old) and may be derived from the earlier Newnan point form.

Most likely used as a knife.  It looks like it has been resharpened and has a ding on the tip and one of the barbs.

It's a Levy or a Culbreath with a broken stem.

I would second the Levy point, is it biface? Also projectile points from the second Seminole war had a similar shape but not the width.

Levy points predate the Seminole Wars by a few thousand years. The basic design of arrowhead and Atlatl points has stayed the same for tens of thousands all across North America.
