My new bending thru the handle ash bow...
« on: November 01, 2007, 07:57:09 pm »
Hello...welll i was not so sure iff i should post this bow here becose i think its a realy simple bow, nothing like the beautiful bows that i have seen here but thenn i sad why not...so here it is..its a ash bow, its 70" long, and its aboute 40# at a 29" full draw.I made this bow only for curiosity, becose i didnt think that it will come up a bpw from such a stave.I dont have picture how it wass before but it wass realy twisted, and it wass not verry thick in the handle area.It wass just 2 cm thick..(all most an inchi).and i thaught that i should give it a try and see iff i can make a boe that bend thru the handle.I had some problems tillering this bow, becose its not that simple to tiller a bow that bend thru the handle but i think that it tourned out pretty good. Here are some pictures.

well this is it...the lower limb have a little snake in it,so it have a little caracter in it.Its just a simple bow. :)

Very nice, tiller is prefect, so far as I can see.
I'm liking bendy handle bows more recently, as I've just gotten the hang of it. They can be monsters and kick badly in the hand if not made correctly, but when you get it, Man! They're great!

I like this bow, and ash is a favorite wood for all kinds of things for me.

Akila, watch out comparing your work to others in a negative way (I have to be careful of that too)- what we can do now is what we can do now, and each bow is unique and beautiful here.

Like the rest nothing wrong with this bow, Its easy to make a pretty bow but the real test of a bow is how it
functions and its durability. Well done.

Looks like a good bow. Often, simpler is better, and pretty makeup don't make'em shoot a bit better.
