anyone know what bevel is on a froe?

I can't find one anywhere so I figured I would just try to make one but I don't have a clue what kind of bevel is on it. So any help is appreciated.

The froe I have was made from the end of a car spring with the eye left in and a bevel added to one side. I don't know what angle it is and don't think it matters as long as it will split the wood.

I like the double option of having a single bevel edge, just like with a draw knife. Depending on what I'm using it for I can use it bevel up or bevel down.

Double bevel here, just because I haven't had the opportunity to work with a single bevel froe.

For what it's worth, both of my "old" froe's have single bevels. They have the ability to "influence" the run of the split. I like my single bevels.....actually I never seen one with a "knife" edge. Shows how old I am.

Hmmm... I guess ill have to try both. I guess the next question is what degree do I set the bevel some say 30 and some say 45. What say you?

I'd guess about froe-ty five degrees.

A froe is a splitting tool, usually used to split shingles or shakes.  You beat it through a log much like batoning a knife.
