Today was a nice day, cold but sunny and lot of fun at the shooting range. I met Corinna again, she did a bowmaking course at my shop some time ago.
At this time she had chosen BL out of my stave pile, which turned out quite intereating after debarink and working the sap off. This piece had two large, I mean really large, knotty curly wrinkly warts on it, which weren't avoidable by layout.
This was the very first of bowmaking experience for Corinna on a really not easy stave. But the young Lady (she is a cabinet maker by profession)did a great job and made a super cool bow. Later at home she did the carvings in the warts - here posible because the knots are thinned out and do no working job. The grain in this spots is curled and wrinked as said.
O.k. here are the pics from today afternoon, she allowed to post it here
The bow is about 35# btw.
- enjoy ...
a nice idea for an arrowpass
a bear carving on the spot on the upper limb
a leaf carving on the spot on the lower limb
and the bellyside of the huge knot on the upper limb
