Cesar: I used a cabinet scraper to remove the waxy outer skin of the bamboo til I got down to the dark fibrous stuff. It still didn't take the stain quite as well as the hickory did, but once it was sealed up it was fine. I'm definitely going to start staining all of my bamboo backed bows now, it just looks cool!
Thanks Mike, the bow holds about an inch of reflex which I'm pretty happy with. And you're right it's not hard to find the motivation to make a bow when it's for a pretty girl.
