I've got a red oak board bow in the works, but I don't fully trust the grain. I trust the grain so little, actually, that I was thinking of using multiple layers of cloth to back it. Has anybody tried this? It's going to be about #50 and 1.5" wide, so barring horrific tillering, it will should survive. I just want to have the option to make it much shorter than may normally be prudent. Any input?
