Adventures in Nerd-land! Wizard wand making (pic heavy)
« on: March 04, 2013, 02:23:38 am »
My friends held a Harry Potter themed social gathering last night and to prepare I made my own wizard's wand!  It was a total hit at the party and I received many compliments throughout the night.  Even managed to score some points for my team by simply showing up with a handmade wand, haha!

Started out as a fallen Birch branch.  Didn't really have any idea on how I wanted to make it at first, I kinda just let the wand take shape as I went along.  Just used a Swiss army knife and round file and good ol' Elmer's school glue for the finish   Ended up being 15.25" long and if I had my choice I'd give it a dragon heartstring core  :P

The last pic is just some more stick I picked up today. I think I just create a little side hobby for myself!

Unfortunately Washington is bone dry in the Osage department :( Or else I'd be making a lot more useful things than wands out of it!
