Hickory board flatbow

A bit of a beginner-bow-type, but we had this board of hickory lying around when we remodeled our house.  I picked it up, and said, what the heck, I'll make a bow.

68" nock to nock, 50 pounds at 28", and almost no hand shock, which I'm pleased with. Took a little bit more set than usual though, which I'm not that pleased with. I gave it a deertan leather stitch grip with a built up shelf of foam, leather strikeplate. Really simple.
The tip overlays are bamboo. I wanted to experiment, and I like the way the boo looks.

I've never tried bamboo as tip ovelays before, and never seen it used as overlays either, so I didn't know what to expect. seems to work out nicely, looks good.

Nice looking bow, good use for a left-over board.

I love those simple bows.  And that is a great use of a leftover board.  They might be beginner bows, but they still shoot an arrow.

I don't consider board bows to be beginner bows by any stretch.  That is a fine bow and every bit as good as a stave bow.  Well done!  Josh
