Blackened Sugar Maple bow
« on: February 24, 2013, 04:02:38 pm »
I finally took some pictures of my new Florida Sugar Maple bow. It is 68" long and 47# @ 29" It has Black Walnut tip overlays and a chocolate deer leather grip. I flipped the tips and tempered the belly before rubbing several coats on ebony stain into it. I steel wooled it down and then stained over top the ebony with antique maple stain and poly. I love the way the colored turned out. I am also very happy with how she shoots too! I have to over draw it like an English Longbow to get the full draw out of it. thanks for looking at it!- Ryan

Pretty much up to your usual high standards, buddy!  Nice bow, indeed.

Just one question?  Where do you find chocolate deer?  I will be skinning some chocolate bunnies at easter time and I hope they tan as nice as the leather you used for your grip.

That's incredible!  I love the dark stain on it!  You been shooting melanistic deer?
Florida to Kwajalein to Turkey and back in Florida again.  Good to be home but man was that an adventure!

Very nice,
I like the way you did those tip overlays too,
these don't look at all like the celebrity fingernails that some like.  >:D

Good looking bow Ryan. Havent tried a maple stave yet.
