Thanx Joe, I agree!!  I also think having as many pictures would be a great thing as well!!!  I dont know of any other primitive site who has that much detail.  It would be a very valuable thing for primitive Archer

Since 2008, I've been putting together a list of rock sources in TX.  I know where to pick up free rock when I need some.  The trouble with making such a list public is that the rock will be gone in less than a year.  That's right, thousands of pounds of rock...  gone.  That's why there isn't such a list in the public domain.  If the rock has value, there are more than just flintknappers out there who will scoop it up in hopes of making money off the rock some day.  Or the landowners will become hostile to people hunting for rock on their land if they do not get payment for the rock or if people are trespassing.  Texas is already very hostile in that regard.  Even the state has regulations against gathering rock on public land.  It has become a big issue.

If you join an established flintknapping group, on the other hand, you won't have trouble finding rock for free.

Having said that, there's nothing holding anyone back from making geologist reports public.  They have very detailed maps on lithic resources in every state.  Many are already in archaeological papers and books.  Of course, the maps are not free.

There are a couple of rocks missing from the North Carolina list, Quartzite and Rhyolite.

Patrick I agree with the location thing..my purpose was to list them and a picture id...no addressesor detailed gps...I've worked hard in finding my locations I certainly don't want someone backing up with a dump truck....I think its a good idea for some folks who take a vacation or just take a drive who would know what to look for if they found it...all intention are good.
