New Vine Basket!
« on: February 18, 2013, 11:38:38 pm »
Made up a new Vine basket tonight.  Not sure what kind of vine, not green brier, not grape, not posion ivy >:D    not virginia creeper, not passion flower.....just some vine!   the main sticks..whatever they are called, are made from gallberry.  there must be 30 yards of vine in there!  a lot of over and under!   bout 8 1/2 wide and 3 1/2 deep

Looks mighty useful and handy.  Where is the "like" button?
Guns have triggers. Bicycles have wheels. Trees and bows have wooden limbs.

That's so cool looking!  Did you do anything to the vines before you started weaving or you just pull them up and start weaving?
Florida to Kwajalein to Turkey and back in Florida again.  Good to be home but man was that an adventure!

thats a nice little basket.
now you got me curious as to what vines they are made from. always hard to tell from a pic,
blackberry runners look sorta like those thinner ones....or maybe honeysuckle? not buck brush runners....
when i'm working on things my ancestors worked, singing the songs my ancestors sang, dancing the same dances, speaking the same language, only then  I feel connected to the land, THIS land, where my ancestors walked for thousands of years...

Great job Ryan! You got me wondering if I could do this with some vines in my woods. I think that basket would look really cool filled with some of your points :)

thanks guys.   these vines are not any sort of fruiting vine. They just creep around the back yard. they may very well be invasive as I haven't seen them anywhere before. no thorns and they don't even get those little squiggly arms like a green brier or grapevine does....just a thin smooth vine
