Oregon owyhee cripple creek picture jasper. This raw or not heat treated jasper is the hardess stone i've knapped. It was bending my big ishi sticks point. Iwas getting some long flacks almost half way across. I reset the copper a little deeper . Then snapped at 1/3 the way down. Well anyway my wrists are sore. Any got this out of it.

I'm not sure if the color changes from heat treating but a 1.0" slab will take about 600 degree heat. The colors stated from this are the sme as in this raw piece I worked. Thanks for your comments all.

Very cool. I'm glad you posted this ,I'm just getting in to knapping and recently bought a turkey roaster for a bunch of slabs I purchased one of them being a huge slab of the same stuff. I was wondering if it would take a heat treating.

rootbeer is only 300 for any size. There are many in the 600 range. A quick google search for heart treating jasper will bring up the PSK website with a chart for download for those Interested. And thanks PSK for the info.
