I hear ya Cody. It has 6 coats spray satin and many coats of birchwood Casey wax.

Nice bow Pearl. 
I've made a few pignut hickory and if you keep them dry they can be real shooters.  I made a 60" ntn, 58# @ 28" and it really spits out a 500 gr arrow.  I kepted it dry during building with a piece of flexable metal dryer hose and a 100 watt light bulb at the bottom.  Kept the air flow through the hose/pipe just with the heat from the light bulb. and it really kept the wood dry.  I've got a unlimited amount of pignut hickory available so I'll be making more hickory bows.  I've trapped the backs on the last bows I build with good success.  One of the hic bows has a few frets (I think they are call that)on the belly at the top & bottom limb fades.  I hope it won't be fatal.  I'm not sure what caused it. Tiller looked good.  I'll get some pics and post them on another thread and maybe we can figure out what caused the frets.

Again nice bow,  I think there's other good bow wood other than osage.

I guess if it doesn't shoot, just Chrome it, or spray paint on it:) Or wax on wax off:)

Very nice,I have made and shot a lot of Hickory and have found they ant that bad if you will take a little extra care,keep them in a good dry place when not shooting and keep the waxed and they are fine. Good work on that one Chris. :)

 Hey Charlie...when we say "trap" or "trapped";its short for the word trapezoid. What your doing is making a trapezoid cross section with the back being the top narrower part....got it? Some woods can take more trapping than others....hickory can take the most due to its tensile strength

Thanks everybody but Roy and Chickenhawk, you guys dont count.

Charlie in essence trapping is nothing more than chamfering the backs edges. In this case I made about a 3/8" chamfer per side. That equaled about 1/3 of its total width.
