On sunday some of the first guys from the first group are  coming over to help with the new group ...should be a lot of fun.

Looking forward  :(to today. My first class and my second class are going to gather here at the house for a day of bow building. I worked a ring yesterday and applied a layer of glue on this stave that I plan to bring to the classic. Today we are going to finish tillering their bow and working out the
Also going to teach them how to split a log

we will be dropping arrows on the targets by night fall

Good times and bad but its all about learning. We had a bow fail after heating it to align the string. I called Will to figure out what happened and because of winter the mositure in the bow was low so it seperated with a crack horizonal to the limb. I wanted to share this with others because I never saw this before. What we should have done was wait a couple if days before we pulled it to allow the stave to rehydrate. Live and learn but hate to see it in a new bow at had a great tiller.
Now for the good ....Paul's stave is looking great and should make a nice bow.

Tom's bow is done and got it first shoots yesterday!
So good times on sunday here in Iowa!!!!
Also Scott stopped in as he was passing through.
Annette made us all lunch had it was great!

That's a cool shot with the chrono, but looks like the limbs are off balance somehow. Never seen that before...

Tell Annette lunch was GREAT (and the real reason I swung by. ::) )

That's probably just an artefact of the frame scan in the digital camera...
I've seen weird stuff like that when grabbing a frame from video too. I think it shows up on vertical lines most, which is why the arrow looks ok.
I've seen pics where the string shows up as a huge S shape.

Not sure about messing things up?

 Just kinda  running things like twin oaks with Gary Davis where we all have one idea about a particular design so they learn one method together and learn from each other in the process. Kinda like having parents on the same page so the kids dont get mixed mesages. Next time we need time to be on the same page for the student. We need to pick one design for them all to work with because if their bow fails then they can see how the process worked correctly with the other student  that shared the same design. This helps them see where they went wrong and where it went right with others in the class. It is very good to have help and it was appreciated.

As far a the chrono well it is the wonder of the modern camera ...can't always believe what you
see Scott. Look at the string on the bottom limb it appears two be cut in to and broke! Kinda a fun picture.

Lol dont be jealous our band is only 6 but counting. We lost one to the military. Thinking of getting another group together this .summer
