r/d osage with alot of wind checks
« on: February 16, 2013, 07:17:13 pm »
Had this stave sitting around for a while and finely did something with it. After splitting it almost tossed it after seeing all the wind checks in it. My camera will not do close ups very well for some reason so I stop trying to take pics of all the checks. 14 checks up and down the limbs. 90 deg prop twist. I felt like I was wasting my time as I was making this one. Tiller is not perfect, bottom a little stiff but I stopped do to bad checks (oh well took the top one a little to fast). 60 ntn, 47@26. I can not remember what the tips are/ to much scrap in my tip bucket. Thanks for looking.

Sweet bow Paul!

Good job on that bow.  I like how you left the handle bare.  It's a shame to cover up beauty marks like those.
I started out with nothin' and I still got most of it left

Talking trees. What do trees have to talk about, hmm... except the consistency of squirrel droppings?

Nice job on that one, Paul. I'll be glad when I get courage enough to tackle tough ones like that!! ???

Very nicely done! Some shy away from wind checks , but I haven't had one fail for that reason.
