How much arrow do you guys like past the back?thx's

My arrows are cut to 29" or 30" and I draw 26".

used to cut 'em as short as possible.  I was buying extra light spines so I could cut 'em at 26 1/2" for my draw length. 

But then about 2 years ago I ended up with making up a set at 31" because the spine at that length was just right.  Turns out I am much better shooting longer arrows.

I draw 27" and my arrows are cut between 29-30".

30/31 and draw 26 for the same reason as JW. spine and weight of the arrow.

Coupla inches longer. Like JW says weight and spine. longer arrows are more stable to shoot.

 More length is easier to adjust spine for a self bow and just is more forging to tuning issues IMO

I like long arrows.  My draw is slightly under 28"  but I like arrows 31".  They just seem to shoot better for me and I find that I can add and subtract point weight to make them spine for a wider range of draw weights.  That comes in handy when you have several bows that you like to shoot.

It depends on the weight of the arrowhead.  Some arrowheads are really small and thin so, in that case, I use a long foreshaft to get the weight up.  Usually, 4-6 inches past the back is my average.

I am like Pat, 26" draw with 29-30" arrows. There is an added benefit that if you snap off the tip you will likely be able to salvage the arrow and still have enough length to make it a shootable arrow.

Just remember that each inch shorter equals 5# higher spine so when you break off a point,
re-taper and add another point you also increase the spine weight..
