Fixing deflex?
« on: February 11, 2013, 02:10:45 pm »
well everyone i know i already asked this question in my other thread but just thought i would post it here too, the bow im working on has 1 1/2" of deflex in the limb in limb i wan't to be the top limb and 1/2" of deflex in the limb i hope to be the bottom limb, i say "hope to be" because of the way the handle has turned out. i also wan't to put about an inch of reflex into it because when i tiller it, it will most likely take set so if it does it will return to being somewhere near straight. any sugestions on how to do this would be greatly appreciated. Stop worrying and stop creating topics; start making shavings! :P

1½" of deflex is nothing to worry about.

That bit of deflex in your Christmas tree will be your very last concern squirrel nutz.

I must come clean, its eating me up. I have never built a Christmas tree bow, I lied.......
Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realize we cannot eat money.

PD i thought so no one else but me is crazy enough to make a bow from such a terible wood, i know it's not really that important but i know it's there and i want to do my best to have as little "mistakes" as possible. if i can get this thing anywhere near straight before going onto tillering ill be happy, also another reason i wan't to make it straight is so that i can put sinew on it which will give relex and mke a good backing im also thinking of adding snake skins, but thats for when it's fired 200+ arrows and looks and fells safe. thanks for the replys.
