Maple Board Bow
« on: February 08, 2013, 02:15:40 pm »
This is a Maple (Lowes) board bow made from a 1” x 2” x 8’ maple board. 1.5” parallel tapering to 3/8” over the last 15”.
It is 66” nock to nock pulling 40# at 28”. This was my second successful maple board bow. The first took significantly more set. This took some set but is much better.
This was my first floppy rest. I have made all others with a cut in arrow rest.
I would recommend looking for 1 x 3 or 1 x 4 maple boards in my opinion Maple requires wider than 1.5” to avoid set.

I had been sick with the flew for 3 days. Looks like the full draw is a little short.

Your eval is right, a tad wider never hurts with maple. Your tiller and braced pics look nice.
Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realize we cannot eat money.

look's good, your right with maple ya want to start 2" wide and if it finishes out 1 3/4"  or 7/8" you will have little to no set, Bub
failure is an option, everyone fails, it's how you handle it that matters.
