I just mailed my trade bow off.  It should arrive at the victims residence by Saturday.  Here's a pic and a link to the thread.  http://www.primitivearcher.com/smf/index.php/topic,41156.0.html  Josh

AGREED!
Talking trees. What do trees have to talk about, hmm... except the consistency of squirrel droppings?

I got mine skinned and couple coats of Tru Oil on it.  I need to decide what kind of handle wrap this bow gets.  I think I know how I want it to look.  I just don't know how to make it happen.

Got the skins down on the bow with Tight Bond Hide Glue.
Man that IS some bloody Sticky Stuff...  :)
And the scales removed.
Following Mr. Gordon's process from his Winter Project Yew build along...
I think using an arrow cutoff (dowel) to gently roll the air and excess glue out from under the skins is a Capital idea.

I used Way too much CA Glue in the finish process on my first attempt.
Which is why it failed so miserably.
After thirty shots it was clear there was no saving the finish or the skins under it.
There was a crack or craze every half inch.
Dang shame as they were the Perfect skins for this bow.
But the new skins should look nice.
Sticking with Polly and Tru-Oil this time, No CA glue in the finish.   ???

But the bow will have to rest till Sunday as I'm heading off to the Osage Promised Land (at least in Texas) where the trees grow Straight and Tall.
To do a little wood cutting.

Man we're getting close...

I really got some work done on the bow. Not on the short string yet but. I did get it bending a bit. I should have it on the short string this evening or tomorrow for sure. Right now it is and Osage American long bow. I did heat it up at Mojam and take out a whole bunch of d-flex.

Well need to get back at it.

Got the handle wrapped and strike plate on this morning. Only thing left is to serve the string and take pictures. Planning on shipping it out monday.

This morning I left to meet up at a friends house an hour and a half away and 30 mins down the road I got a phone call. My trade bow had arrived! From mister James Parker!
I'm so stoked but it's pure agony bc I won't even be able to see it till Tuesday when I get back from bear hunting :(
I'm gonna see if I can get some pictures sent to my phone so I can at least look at it!
I'm sure it's a work of pure art, been admiring James' work for a long time now.
thank you very much!!! I'll be sure to post when I get back home.
