Everyone is looking good,I need to get on the ball. I got the Persimmon tillered out to 27 and thought I missed weight,it read 48lbs and I was shooting for a little over 50lbs @27 ,so I put it on the form and heat treated it which should bring it right in, well I got to looking and realized I hadn't adjusted my scale for the weight of the scale,lets just say I had it adjusted but someone that thinks they are smarter than I  >:( >:( re adjusted it back to 0 so the bow was 51 or 52lbs already, :-[ :-[  just what I wanted. Now I guess it is back to the scrapper. :) That's not a bad thing except I have to give it several days to rehydrate and I really wanted to be shooting and doing some finish work on the back. O well,wished folks would leave MY stuff alone. ;) :) Don't think that is going to happen tho. :)

Thanks all, the steamer is sold by Rockler Woodworking, it sales for about 100$ after tax and shipping. The steam box you build yourself. So far I've built two, one for spot bends like handles and tips, the other long enough to steam one whole limb. Works great, you just pour in the water, it takes about ten minutes to heat up the box, then one hour per inch of thickness. I like it better than heat for aggressive bends because I seem to always get cracks in the wood. This way is much safer for me.

A little more progress on a couple of candidates???????????

Got the elb to floor tiller and because it's Yew (soft) glued some chunks on the tips that I'll work down tomarrow and try for the string.....

Finally got some movement on the Yew takedown...  did some alignment and a gentle flip and lettin it rehydrate.......

Looking good coaster. I must have scraped 200 times on each limb and have the limbs bending a bit. I have the string tight but not to any kind of brace yet. Once I do I will get some pics up.

Use a rasp Kelly. You can scrape 200 times, or rasp 15.

Yes Sir Coaster them two Yewts are looking sweet from here...

I'm still ring chasing on this Osage.
Hopefully I'll have reason to post an update pic after this weekend.
This piece has some Krazy variance to the ring thickness to go with all the knots, limbs and pins.

But the Snake is Truly starting to show in the grain.
Have about four to six more rings to go down to reach my first choice.
Scraper only, I don't see a way to use drawknife or rasp on this one.  :)
If she makes a bow, she should be quite the Naughty Girl...

Plan B is braced and handle shaped !
Just a stick with a string ,just the way I enjoy them !!
Thinking about setting it aside now that I am in good shape to start plan A ,the one I  really hope works out !!!
Gonna need a pencil and some brain power to pull it off and have not used either one for a long spell !
Can I really do something that has been over 20 years since I last did ,and do I really want to ? !!

No pictures as of yet. Just wanted to check in. I thought this DC area snow storm was going to really set me back. But considering we didn't get much of anything and it's supposed to be around 60 and sunny both Saturday and Sunday this weekend I should be able to get moving on some things. I do have a question about flipping tips but I'm going to post out on the general board with different topic heading. Thanks.
