Is that Mulberry?  For the bendy, you will likely end up near the 1-1/4 inch mark.  Mine tend to be 1-1/8 but that's with osage.

Ok just an update for those keeping track of who is posting. I am just about done floor tillering and will be steaming recurves soon I really like this stave so im trying to take it slow to make sure it comes out how i want. I'm a little self conscious of it at this point so i will wait to show pictures until i get it a little further along

well that shorty decided it did not want to be a bow she blew at a knot about 10" from the tip. Might get a kids bow out of it later. On to plan B. I will be chasing a ring on another stave tomorrow. I will keep plan b simple a long bow of hedge and if I get it tillered and shot in I will add some skins. Sorry ******** no short bow.

  Coaster, LOL Cant put hair on all of em. I tried something new for me . the Tips on this one are Buffalo bone from one of the 2 i shoot with a bow couple years ago. Hope %^(^&$%&@&  Likes it done shot in and ready to go.  Will post some pics b4 it goes out mon.

I shot in my trade bow over the week and was not happy that I came in under weight. So I decided to lightly temper the belly to see if I could boost the bow’s performance. I’ve had mixed results tempering vine maple so I knew I was taking a chance by doing this. If it turned out poorly I would have to chuck the bow and start over. Fortunately tempering had the desired effect and with a little re-tillering I ended up adding about 7 pounds - which put me where I wanted to be.

Here is the bow immediately after tempering. Some of the reflex pulled out when I re-tillered the bow but it settled in at 2.5” of reflex at rest. Not a bad result. Now I will stain and put a finish on the bow.

I stained the bow with light brown leather dye. Then I’m going to put a Tru-Oil finish over that. Here are a couple of pictures of the stained bow.

Nice work Gordon.  Seen lot's of sweet bows under way.  This trade has been really cool for me, and I appreciate PA for doing it and the guys running it. 
  Got a little work in on plan B today for the first time in a few weeks.  66" knotty Osage.  Thin rings and a high crown.  About 2 1/2" natural setback in the handle.  1 1/2" wide bendy handle if I can keep it together.  Plan A is finished and I've been shooting her every day for a few weeks.  Love the bow!  Was gonna send it, but decided to wait and finish plan B and see which I like better.  Send that one.  Got a day comin' Saturday with a few bow makin' friends and I will try and finish her up then.   Love makin' bows!
