Tracy, I think we, YOU, hooked Brian.  I just got an email from him saying he's ordered a knapping kit and his goal it to make a Clovis by May.  I'm pretty sure he'll be coming to the Classic, also.  He's wanted to the last couple years that I've attended, but something came up.

Woohoo! So what you're saying is that Brian will be sharing the tarp next year at the 2nd annual Moontree Rendevous. 8) Tell him that he will have access to more knowledge and skill at the Classic than any book or video.

Did Brian say anything about working on a bow?  I hope he gets the bug.
I started out with nothin' and I still got most of it left

Brian said something when he was leaving to the effect, "This is some pretty interesting stuff. I may have to try a bow."  I hope he does.  He's a pretty talented woodworker/carver.  I think he could make the transition quite easily.  He was impressed that, "everyone tolerated his stupid questions."  He might be reading this himself.  I sent him this link and the other one about the gathering.  He did read thru them a couple days ago.  I suggested highly that he join the PA forum and explained about the knapping room.  We'll see.

Come on Brian, get rid of the guest status at the top of this post and join us in our addictions  >:D I think he had some awesome info and got me wanting to make a fractured base point now.

I got this email from Brian today:

Came across this osage when I was looking for knapping rock yesterday.  That's my rock hammer on the limb.  It's 11 inches long.  I estimated the tree to be 26 inches in diameter.

Tell Chris if he can cut it and load it in that van he can have it!

If you guys would learn to hold your horses and stop doing all the fun stuff first thing, I might could help drive some wedges and get a ky stave :'(

Greg, there's another tree or four that Blackhawk and spotted.  You're only a couple hours away :)

I called Brian today and I think I have him convinced to come up and knap with us on the weekend. Baby steps guys I think it will get him headed in the bow direction too. You just can't make an arrowhead without putting it on an arrow and killing something >:D

He needs to be a knapper with all of that rich first hand artifact information he has. He would have an easier journey with great points to reference. He also seems to have extensive knowledge on cherts of the state and region.
