Thanks Patches. Unfortunately I don't think I'll be making it to MOJam this year as I start med school in June but I'll be bringing it everywhere else before then.

gpw, can't say I've seen that one but I'll look it up. Got anymore info on it?

At first I was going to say this looked like a bow designed by a committee made up of Washington bureaucrats.  But they couldn't create something this functional.  This bow actually shoots!!!

Great work!
Guns have triggers. Bicycles have wheels. Trees and bows have wooden limbs.

OMG!!! That is seriously messed up!! LOL!! But... somehow... it works. It kinda grows on you. That is definitely thinking outside the box. I look at my bows after looking at that, and the only word I can think of is... boring.

Arrowind, Thanks... I think?

Newindian, It shoots arrows and I draw the string with my hand. What else would you call it?

adb, It really does! I'm definitely going to try and make another one some time in the future. The extra work is totally worth it.

I'll never look at a weird piece of wood in contempt again!  totally awesome bow.  you should take it to an archery range and film people's reactions when they see it!

loefflerchuck, Thanks! I'll have to make a ton of them so future civilizations will think there was some sort of significance!  >:D

Rufledt, Thank you! I was thinking about doing that at the archery range at the university. Although I'm pretty sure my friends wouldn't be surprised seeing me walk through the door with it.

Just got to see this one too Ryan. That is a very cool bow!
I read where you won't make it to MOJAM this year due to med school... Now I understand why you are spending the winter making bows. ;)
Hey, send your sister as your "proxy" to MOJAM  this year and she can build another bow. ;D

Thanks Paul! That's not a bad idea. I think she had a good time last year. If she went this year without me and made a bow I'd definitely be super proud!  ;D

Ryoon , the Hidatsa bow was featured in an article in Primitive Archer magazine  Volume 3 , Issue 4 , page 26 , entitled appropriately enough “Hidatsa Archery” ...  by Ron Taillon   The asymmetrical bow is supposed to have better arrow flight and is “tuned’ by moving the hand position up or down till it shoots best ...
Ps , it was also used occasionally as a Club ...  :o

I’m making a “test  bow” now from PVC (not exactly primitive   ::)  )  just to try out before we cut wood ...
