Birthday bow
« on: February 04, 2013, 05:31:37 pm »
My oldest son turned 5 and it was time to make him a new bow, He helped me layout the bow, and tried to use a spokeshave as best he could. He certainly had specific requests on the finishing touches. The bow is from a Hickory board, and is a pyramid shape.

48" tip to tip, right around 18 pounds at a 20" draw. Right now it a little too much bow for him but his old one will hold him over until he grows again, which could be any week now!

Nice job, Dad!!
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.

YOU THE DAD!
Talking trees. What do trees have to talk about, hmm... except the consistency of squirrel droppings?

When I was a kid, I used to shoot the arrow at The Gopher.  Best keep your head down....I've gotten much better with a bow.*

He looks so proud of himself with his very own weapon.  That's a great photo of the kid.  Keep it up, he'll be growing so fast you will have to make a new bow every month.

*O.k., I still suck, but not as much.  You are probably pretty safe!
Guns have triggers. Bicycles have wheels. Trees and bows have wooden limbs.
