Boo Backed Lemonwood and Osage Bow

Here is a bow that I recently built for target shooting. It is bamboo backed lemonwood with an Osage powerlam and handle overlay. The limb design is a classic reflex deflex. The tips are African blackwood and the handle wrap is dyed elk hide. The bow is 64” ntn and pulls a very comfortable 40# @ 27”. Limb width is 1 3/8” at the fades tapering evenly to 7/16” at the tips. The finish is Tru-Oil which I rubbed out with steel wool and pumice. It’s nothing special, just a nice little bow to roam around with when I don’t feel like shooting my heavy-weight hunting bows.

Looks like a sweet little blacktail bow for stalkign thru  those coastal forests to me!!  BEautiful Gordon, I bet theres zero handshock.

Not sure what's prettier that graceful rested profile or the arch at full draw. Love a d/r bow with such a fine profile that it looks as good unstrung as it does bending. Very nice Gordon. :)

K-hat, these light weight bows are smooth and easy to draw - I'm getting soft in my old age. Thank you.

Thank you Bow 101. I wouldn't go so far as calling this one art, but I try to make all my bows presentable - they just feel like they shoot better that way.

Thank you Lemos. These laminated bows are not that difficult to put together. You just got to be competent with power tools. Now putting out a really good self bow - that takes some talent. And there is an abundance of that on this site!

cvarcher, you could use a bow like this to hunt blacktail, but I like to carry a heavier bow for that in case I run into some elk.
